The Johnson Area band program is celebrating a great year of music making! Here's what's happening:
The Gr. 7/8 Band is heading to Moose Jaw May 15-16 to perform at the Kinsmen Festival. Students will depart from Johnson Collegiate Tuesday at 4:30pm. Check the JAM website for more details!
Our grade 6-12 band students will be performing in a Recruiting Concert for our Area Grade 5 students on Tues. May 29th at 10:30 am at Johnson. We're looking forward to welcoming the new 'recruits'!
Our Spring Band Concert is Tues. May 29th at 7:30 pm at Johnson. Our Grade 6, 7/8 and jazz bands are eager to show you what they've accomplished this year! Band students should arrive at 7:00 pm wearing their uniform (black pants, black socks, black shoes, and band t-shirt.)
Our Gr.6 Band Wind-up is Thurs. May 31st. Students will enjoy a pizza lunch and an afternoon of fun to celebrate a great first year of playing!
Music Monday is an annual event to celebrate the gift of music in our lives, on the same day at the same time across the country. The idea is to celebrate the galvanizing power of music in Canada and demonstrate how that power is rooted in school music programs. On Mon. May 7th take a moment to celebrate the music in your life.J
Instrument Return - School-owned instruments will be collected following the concert on Tues. May 29th. If your child received an instrument from your band director please plan to spend a few extra minutes at the end of the concert to sign that instrument back in to Ms. Smith at Johnson.
If you are interested in Summer Band Camp information please speak with your band director or check out the Sask Band Association website. These camps are a great way to encourage budding musicians!
If you have any feedback for JAM regarding our fundraisers or if you'd like to get more involved in our band parent association please plan to attend our AGM on June 12th at Johnson.
FOR GRADE 5s:
Band Recruiting is coming soon! Have you given any thought to what instrument you might like to play next year? We're looking forward to telling you all about your area band program and welcoming you into our music family! See you soon!
