Safety Patrol

Welcome to the Safety Patrol page. We are pleased to have three patrols at this time. Mr. Beingessner and Mr. Tranberg are the staff members responsible for this team.

Safety Patrol expectations include:

  • Set a good example and encourage other students to observe safety rules
Report for duty on time with proper equipment (vests, signs, whistles)
Attend and participate in patrol training sessions and meetings
Be prepared to substitute when you are not assigned to patrol
Work as a team to provide safe crossings for our school community
If a patroller cannot do his/her duty, he/she is expected to get a substitute patroller

When on duty, patrols observe the following procedures:

  • Stand one step back from the curb facing the street
  • Watch for a safe gap in traffic
  • One whistle signals putting signs out, two whistles signals back to curb and three whistles means duties are over and proceed to cross holding signs up as you cross
  • Patrollers remain on duty for about ten minutes after the 11:45 & 3:30 bell

I am looking forward to working with our safety team. Watch this page for safety news and schedules.

Announcements

Our Safety Patrol is up and running.  Thanks to our grade 7 coaches who are helping our patrollers ease into their role.  Any grade 6 students interested in joining the patrol still can.  Please see Mr. Beingessner or Mr. Tranberg for a permission slip.  Training sessions will be organized accordingly.   Patrollers received a note in June indicating their team and safety patrol expectations. Check back for updated information soon!
