Lunchroom Reminder

All students staying for lunch on a regular or casual basis must complete a lunchroom registration form.  Also, regular students MUST have a note/phone call when they are not staying and casual students MUST have a note/phone call on the day they are staying.  Your diligence in phoning or writing a note will help us keep all children safe.


Welcome Back!

We would like to extend a warm welcome back to all staff, students, parents/guardians and community members.  We are excited to see all the new faces and those who are returning to Henry Braun this year.

Henry Braun has an outstanding staff that is thrilled to be working with your children.  The staff has been busy working hard, meeting, planning and preparing for the year.  We are committed to providing a positive learning environment where children can academically and socially grow and develop.

We believe your involvement and active participation in your child's education is crucial to his/her success in school.  We encourage you to share any information regarding your child's life with the teacher. We can work together to enhance your child's opportunities for learning.  Please contact the school if you have any questions.

Important June Announcements

Transition Opportunity for Students - Kindergarten to Grade 7

During the afternoon of Monday, June 27, students will spend some time in the classroom they will be working in next year.  Students will meet their teacher and classmates.  During this time, students will hear about learning opportunities for next year, check out their new learning environment and start building a relationship with their new teacher.  Students will also receive a fall school supply list.  The School Community Council will be providing a treat for students and teachers to enjoy.

The goal of Transition Day is to help students prepare for next year.  On Tuesday, August 30, when students return to school they will be expected to move directly to their assigned classrooms.

Note:  All Kindergarten Students will attend classes in the afternoon of Monday, June 27 in order to participate in Transition Day.

On Thursday, June 28, students will receive their report cards.  If your child will not be at school to receive his/her report card, please provide the school office with a stamped self-addressed envelope.

Classroom Placements

The staff has worked through a thorough process to determine student classroom placements for next year.  Our goal is to provide the best learning environment possible for each student.  Some of the factors taken into consideration are:  learning styles and abilities; supports needed for success; student attitudes, behavior and leadership skills; balancing gender numbers in a class; providing students with the opportunity to work in a combined classroom; group dynamics and the number of years a student would have the same teacher.

As a professional team, we believe we have placed each student in the best learning environment possible for next year.

Student & Staff Farewell Assembly

Reminder:  June 28th is the last day of classes and students will be dismissed at 2:30 p.m.  Also, reports cards will be distributed on this day to all grades.

June is a month filled with emotions, celebrations and good-byes.  We bid a fond farewell to our Grade 8 students.  The Henry Braun School community appreciates your contributions to the school and sends you wishes for a future filled with prosperity and happiness.

To the families leaving our school community, we wish you peace and happiness.  Thank you for all the contributions you have made to make our school an excellent place for learning.

We would also like to thank all the parents/guardians for their encouragement, support and time they have willingly given when working with our outstanding Henry Braun staff.

A special thank you to the SCC for all the hard work they have done to support  Henry Braun School and the community.  We are fortunate to have a dedicated SCC committed to supporting students and staff.

The staff and students want to wish Ms. Miller and Mrs. Askew all the best in their retirement.  We appreciate all your dedication to the school.  We wish you many years of happiness and good health in your retirement years.


Gymnasium Seating Capacity

The Regina Public School Board, in consultation with the Regina Fire Department, has clearly communicated to each school the fire code regulations regarding the seating capacity in each school gymnasium.

It is the expectation of the Regina Public School Board and the Regina Fire Department that schools respect and adhere to gymnasium fire code regulations.  The fire code regulations for our gymnasium vary depending upon the usage of chairs, bleachers, stages, steps, risers, tables and so on.

In an effort to follow our gymnasium fire code regulations we will be issuing tickets to our Grade 8 Farewell.  We would like to accommodate everyone, however, due to the fire code regulations we can only seat those people with a ticket.  Please understand that guests who arrive without a ticket will not be able to attend the Grade 8 Farewell.

Summer Transportation Department Hours

Please be advised that the Regina Public School Board Transportation Department will be open over the summer months at regular office hours 8:00am to 4:25pm. (Excluding stat holidays)  If you have an address change or an inquiry please do not hesitate to phone, fax, or email. The cutoff date for changes (if you qualify) is July 22rd, 2011.  This will ensure your student's transport will start on August 30th, 2011.   All changes received after this date will not commence for transport until September 7th, 2011.

The initial cutoff is established so that parent route notification can be done through the mail the first week in August.  This ensures that the routes sent out the first week in August are the same on August 30th, 2011, the first day of school.  Subsequent route changes requiring parent notification are done after this point.  The September 7th, 2011 cutoff ensures that there is enough time to notify all parents of changing route times.

PlayEscapes is a FREE summer drop-in program offered by the City of Regina for children entering Kindergarten (must be 5 years old by December 31, 2011) through Grade 7. The program runs Monday to Friday, July 4-August 12 (no program August 1).

The program offers leader-facilitated activities as well as self-directed play opportunities that promote physical activity, and develop creativity, imagination, life skills, and positive self-image. PlayEscapes welcomes children and youth of all abilities. Participants who may need assistance during the program are required to bring an attendant.

June Band News

JAM June Band Notes - 2011

* Our final band concert scheduled for Tues. May 31st has been cancelled due to the withdrawal of voluntary services.

* The Gr. 6 Tour scheduled for Fri. Jun. 3rd has been changed. Our concert for the grade 5s will go ahead as planned (10:15-11:00 am). Parents are welcome to attend. However, the lunch and afternoon activities for the grade 6s have been cancelled as the event occurs away from the school and requires noon hour supervision. Refunds will be issued to those students who have already paid their $15 trip fee.

* Please ensure that students are clear that our last band sectionals will run as usual from May 30-June 3. We will be collecting board office owned and equity provided instruments from the grade 7/8s at this lesson. The grade 6 instruments will be collected at Johnson following their concert on Jun. 3rd.

* Grade 6 and 7 Band registration forms are coming home soon! Please return them to your school as soon as possible; we are already looking ahead at scheduling and planning for next year and we hope to have you back on our music team!

* Grade 5 recruiting will be going ahead as usual! We are looking forward to meeting with the grade 5s and talking about this amazing opportunity for next year. Please watch for band registration forms and information coming home early in June. Our Grade 5 registration night is tentatively planned for Tues. Jun. 14th at 6:30 pm at Johnson. Please watch our JAM website ( for updates.

* Summer band camps are a great way to keep your budding musician playing. The Saskatchewan Band Association offers camps in Regina (July 24-29), Saskatoon, Kenosee and Yorkton. The Bob Mossing School of Music also offers a camp in Regina (July 19-22 /August 2-5).  Check out or for more information.
